"WIRC provides free counselling, support, information and advocacy for women survivors of rape and sexual abuse and their families and friends. We also run alternative education programmes for secondary schools on rape and sexual abuse, myths, stereotypes, supporting a friend, assertiveness, racism and more. We have both young and older workers so people can choose who they feel most comfortable with. We are a politically active organisation with no direct links with the police. We believe in the right of the survivor to define her own process of healing, which basically means no one will be telling you what to do!"
